Agnes V. Hutson
Agnes Veronica Hutson, 96, died peacefully Monday, June 18, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Hall Lavine Sr. She had worked as an audit clerk of Albany County Department of Social Services. Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Frank Hutson, in 1966.
She was the mother of Barbara Duncan and her husband John of Medusa; sister of the late Mary Maguire, Catherine Held, and Eugene Lavine Jr.. One great-grandson predeceased her. She is survived by none grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service Thursday at 1:30pm at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.

Jessie Marie Dopp
Leeds – Jessie Marie Dopp, 76, of Leeds, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Columbia Memorial Hospital’s Hospice following a long illness.
Born Oct. 7, 1930 in Catskill, she was the daughter of the late Edward R. and Ethel Blakeslee Dopp.
She graduated high school and received her biblical studies certificate from the Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island.
Mrs. Dopp was a retired postal worker in New York City near the World Trade Center.
She enjoyed crocheting, various collections and was an avid attendee of the Tabernacle of Praise and Worship in Catskill.
Survivors include seven nieces and nephews, Susie Elizabeth Elsnic of Catskill, Jack Gates of Jewett, Ruth Clarke of Florida, David Muller of Salisbury Center, Herkimer County, Sandra Lee Proper of Hudson, Linda Hatker of Catksill and Fred and Sharon Baker of Leeds; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth Dopp, Hazel Proper and Bertha Muller; and a nephew Stephen Muller.
Private cremations was conducted Monday, June 11 at the Albany Rural Crematorium under the direction of the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home in Jefferson Heights Catskill.
A memorial service will be held at the Tabernacle of Praise and Worship on Main Street, Catskill, at a date and time to be announced.

Elting Raymond “Bill” Grossman
Elting Raymond “Bill” Gossman died suddenly on June 5,2007 at his home in Westerlo, New York. Bill lived in Westerlo his entire life, the sixth generation of Gossmans to do so. He died roughly a mile from the house at Van Leuven’s Cornersin Westerlo where he was born on March 14, 1921. Mill was the second child and only son of Raymond Gossman and Mabel Somers Gossman.
Bill attended school in Westerlo and Greenville, and he worked from the time he was eight years old. He married Pauline Mary Wayman before a standing-room-only crowd of friends and relatives on September 2, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Schenevus, New York.
He worked for the Albany County Highway Department, and he and Pauline moved into half of Phil and Delite Stewart’s farmhouse (now the Boone farm) in Westerlo. Later, he joined Hannay Reels and in 1966 moved his family into the current home, purchased by Raymond in the 1930s.
Bill could fix anything and learned very early in life how to drive a team of horses and to skin and butcher a cow. He later taught his children how to surfcast on Cape Cod, shoot and ride a bike, pulled their big toboggan up May’s hill, and religiously drove them to the Rensselaerville Library. Bill retired from Hannay in May of 1989. His wife Pauline died on November 11, 1989.
He was a member of the Westerlo Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed his friends at the Helderberg Senior Center. Bill believed that “a man does what he has to do,” and this guiding maxim underscored his support for his family.
Bill traveled widely, through all of New England, New York and Pennsylvania, to the Florida and North Carolina coasts, Washington State’s San Juan Islands, and of eastern Canada. In two trips to Europe, he visited England, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Italy, Germany and the Slovak Republic. Bill also visited Belgium, including the city of Westerlo, Belgium. He made memories for others on both sides of the Atlantic when he crashed a business party Rotherberg, Germany, and stayed for three hours, enjoying libations with American-country-music-singing Germans. Last, but not least, he took the classic All-American road trip to California and back with two friends in his 20s.
In addition to his parents and his wife, his older sister, Marion Gossman Mead Anders, predeceased Bill in 2000. Bill is survived by his daughter, Jean , of Washington, DC; his son, Robert and his wife, Amy, of Greenville; and his son William and his wife, Cheryl, of Seattle; his grandchildren Amanda Gossman of Greenville; and Connor, Hunter and Elizabeth Gossman of Seattle; his younger sister, Kathryn Wagoner, and her husband, Olin, of Rensselaerville; and his nephew Dean Wagoner, and his wife Mariann, of Middleburgh.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 9 at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville, New York. Friends called at the funeral home on Friday. Interment was in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery.

M. John Van Housen
Greenville – M. John Van Housen, 60, of Old Plank Road, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Born March 13, 1947 in Cornwall Orange County, he was the son of the late Melvin and Theresa DeGraw Van Housen Sr.
He served in the US Army and owned and operated John’s Landscaping and Snowplowing in Greenville.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Rom-Fandozzi Van Housen of Greenville; two step-daughters, Melissa Haines and husband Brad of Cohies and Heather Butterworth of Athens; three sister-in-law, Jill Rom of Coxsackie, Joy Converse of Athens and Linda Agne of Severna Park, Md.; two brothers-in-law, Andrew Converse of Athens and Michael Agne of Severna Park; and nephews, Zackary Converse of Athens and Marc Agne of Severna Park.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8pm Friday at Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.
Funeral services will be held 7pm Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fred Van Loan officiating.

Wayne R. Pausley
Earlton – Wayne R. Pausley, age 36 years, of Earlton, NY, died June 11, 2007, at The Eden Park Health Care Center, Catskill, after a long illness.
He was born October 2, 1970 in Catskill, NY and was the son of Phillip G. and Amy (Czyzewski) Pausley of Earlton.
Besides his parents, survivors include a brother Phillip K. Pausley of Earlton, a sister Rachael V. Pausley of Coxsackie, a maternal grandmother Theresa Czyzewski of Hannacroix, many cousins, aunts and uncles. Also survived by his favorite Aunt Lisa Hussey of Coxsackie.
He is pre-deceased by his maternal grandfather Rudolf K. Czyzewski, and also pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents George and Ida Pausley.
Private cremation services took place June 12 at The Albany Rural Crematorium in Menands.
A private memorial service will take place at the convenience of the family, at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The WC Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie.

Mildred A. Foro
Mildred A. Foro, 77 of Greenville, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Mildred was a dedicated mother, grandmother, caregiver and friend.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Nicholas J. Foro in 2003. Survivors include her sons, Nicholas Foro, Jr., of Greenville and Richard and his wife Sheila Foro of Colorado; and four grandchildren, Morgan, Mackenzie, Kevin and Tessa Foro.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at Mildred’s home, Saturday, June 16th. Arrangements were under the direction of the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.

Thomas R. Daly
Medway – Thomas R. Daly, 96, of Medway, passed away June 20, 2007, at The VA Medical Center, Albany, NY.
Tom was born in New York City on August 24, 1910 and moved to the Coxsackie area in 1928, where he worked at the Kaksakee Inn and later at Parks Dairy.
Tom worked at the Voorheesville Army Depot until his retirement in 1969 after which he worked at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility until his retirement in 1975. After retiring Tom worked with the late Earl Halsted and worked for family, friends and neighbors to keep busy. Tom was a carpenter and his family and friends have many pieces of Tom’s wood working.
He was a member of the Medway Congregational Christian Church where he served as a trustee. Tom was a charter member of the Medway-Grapeville Volunteer Fire Company where he served as Fire Chief for eight years and a member of the Fire Police and also a member of the Greene County Volunteer Firemen’s Association since 1945. He was a member of the New Baltimore American Legion Post #1614. Tom was a Boy Scout Leader in the Medway area and was also the coach of the Third District Park’s Girl’s Softball league.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn (Finch) Daly, two daughters, Catherine (Daly) Frank and husband Robert of Coxsackie, Margaret (Peggy Daly) Snyder and husband Paul of West Athens. Five grandchildren, Donald Frank and Jennifer of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, Heidi Frank of Kingston, Patrick Frank and Erin of Kingston, Bridget (Snyder) Sutta and Joshua of Palatka, Florida, SSgt. Thomas Snyder and Rena presently deployed in Iraq. Three great grandchildren, Charles Frank of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, Amanda Frank of Kingston, Dylan Snyder of West Athens and his beloved dog Daisy. Also surviving are his sister-in-laws Betty (Finch) Boelhke of Glenmont, Ruth (Finch) Swan of Coxsackie, Marion (Finch) Schwebler of Hannacroix, Dorothy (Finch) Britton of Selkirk, Agnes Finch of Coxsackie and brothers-in-law Alan Finch of Coxsackie and Edward Finch of Schenectady and cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and friends.
For those wishing to celebrate Tom’s life, calling hours were Friday, June 22, 2007 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the Brady’s Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie. Members of the New Baltimore Legion Post #1614 conducted services at 7pm and the Medway-Grapeville Fire Company conducted services at 7:30pm.
Funeral services were held 10:00am at the funeral home. Reverend Pruiksuma officiated. Interment followed at Medway Congregational Christian Church Cemetery, Route 26, Medway.
